Good investment vehicle for inflation?

Loking for good investments for a guard against high inflation and or recession. I’m not much into stocks and bonds. Looking for more tangible items, ie. firearms, gold, silver, birck and mortar investments. What items have traditionally done well during reccession and inflationary periods?

If the US dollar crashes is it smart to have junk pre 1964 silver dimes (90% sliver) worth $1 each currently?

My basic concern is that if the dollar crashes and we go to a trading system temporarily, how would the lay person know the value of silver if technology shuts down do to the crash? Would it be a smart investment? thanks for your help
