U.S. coins with silver?

I’m a new collector and I’m interested in buying silver coins as an investment. What US coins have a fairly high silver content to be profitable? I know walking liberty’s, franklin 50 cents and some early dimes have some silver, but i have no idea how much they have? Any help would be great!

I know if you buy over a $1000 worth you are not charged sales tax (it’s considered an investment) but what about Federal tax, is it deferred until you sell?
