Why are Silver Eagle Coins harder to purchase than silver bullion?

I have called Fidelity and Schwab wanting to purchase that specific coin for investment(about 20k worth) and both companies said the coins are not easily purchased. They come available only so often. Bullion can be bought right away.

Call some of the major coin dealers, not a stock broker.

But bullion coins are in big demand right now as people globally are worried that the whole financial system will collapse. Premiums on gold coins are $100 or more over spot price. Usually they are about 4%.

You are attempting to buy them from the wrong source. Here is one place where they can be purchased.

I’d read where precious metal coins were in short supply because the mint couldn’t keep up with demand. Bullion has more sources and requires less work to form so it should be easier to acquire.
